Tickets are going on sale—just not always the ones you want. The fact of the matter is that Ticketmaster is orchestrating this little dance, not you. Ticketmaster knows when the best seats will go on sale, not you.
What both of these mean is less competition for you, and less people to compete with when the good seats finally do go on sale. In my experience, Ticketmaster often releases their best stuff about 45 minutes after the on-sale time.
Keep in mind that this is not an exact science. They can sometimes release the good seats 10 minutes after, or 10 days after yes, days. Again, there is no way to know. The obvious question at this point is, when do you stop?
And the obvious answer is, whenever it is no longer worth it for you to pull great seats. By 60 minutes your hands will probably have gone numb, anyway! If you are diligently riding the wave, though, be prepared for Ticketmaster to release all the good seats at exactly the same time. You might end up pulling tickets all in the front row after 45 minutes of no luck whatsoever. Your job is to be prepared for anything Ticketmaster may throw at you and not to stop pulling until at least 30 minutes after tickets have gone on sale.
Why does Ticketmaster even do this? Why put us through this misery? Now, your only option is to buy tickets at inflated prices from a service like Stubhub. While getting tickets is never guaranteed when demand outstrips supply partially because scalpers buy resale tickets , you can increase your odds of success. Log into ticketmaster. Have your credit card with you as well because you may be asked to enter the security code.
Ticketmaster has a queue which you absolutely want to be in. I usually log in and wait about thirty minutes before tickets go on sale. When you log in, find the concert you want to attend, and click More Info. This will take you to a countdown clock. Make sure you don't refresh the page once you're in the queue. A walking man will give you an idea of how long you'll have to wait on the Ticketmaster queue. Okay, I've said to log in and join the queue, but you don't want to do this on just one device.
The more, the better. Download the Ticketmaster app to your phone or tablet and log in. Open ticketmaster. And have a phone ready to call Ticketmaster's automated number. Here was my experience buying tickets to see Stray Kids. I had the app open on three mobile phones and ticketmaster.
Ticketmaster gives you at least three minutes to proceed with a purchase before you forfeit the tickets. If you try searching later that same day — even 45 minutes after the sale begins, in my experience — more tickets may suddenly appear.
Use your phone to call So much ticket-buying happens online that calling Ticketmaster directly sounds like a giant, archaic waste of time. Dip your toe in the resale markets … However questionable, Ticketmaster now offers its own fan-to-fan resale service. Of course, StubHub and TickPick are other popular alternate sources to pick up resale tickets.
