I ended up chatting with some of the other people on the team and they had some thoughts about what we will be doing. Really it's going to be very simple. Then we'll generate a hashstring based on the address of the client, port, current date-time and some other random value, then SHA1 that and store it to the db.

However, dealing with it involves performance and reliability issues that pose problems for gamers. Online game players can protect themselves somewhat by practicing rigid safe computing. This will help them avoid some of the lures that would attract them to malicious Web sites. Keeping systems up to date and scanned regularly will also provide some assurances that infections have not succeeded.

Security vendor had more updates of the course of time then Security vendor did. The only update CE got was that decoration statue. So if BW finally decided to add more exclusive stuff for CE vendor, who you are to say no cause you wont have access to it. In fact very few people even realized that that was what I was talking about.

As for the alleged updates promise, Have you seen where the devs made that promise, or did you just hear it from somebody? A couple dye kits nobody wants, armor nobody wears, a pet nobody uses and an ass-ugly statue…. I would have wore the armor though, i think they still are pretty cool.

I also could think of uses for some of those dye packs and some of the companion customizations are decent. If you want the extras, you should put your hand in your pocket like others did and buy the product.

Not everybody has infinite disposable income all the time to drop on things like that. At no point did I say anything even remotely like that. If the devs choose not to put something in the CE vendor, they can -still put it in other places-.

They can sell it on the cartel market, they can put it in the random packs, they can put it on the Security Key vendor. If they do any of those things, than -any- player can theoretically get ahold of it by playing the game or spending a little bit of money.

It benefits everybody, including people who already own the CE. On the other hand, if they make something for the CE, then the only people that get it are people who bought the CE when it came out, or people who buy an old, unused copy on ebay on amazon, possibly at a silly markup.

On top of that, as any MMO matures, many early adopters phase out, which means that people who bought the game early on and lost interest for whatever reason are no longer making use of the fact that they have access to the vendor.

At the same time, new players are discovering the game and getting involved. The effect there is that the number of people with CE vendor access is getting tinier and tinier as time goes on. The only people doing that are people who argue for more CE exclusive content. That was one of the incentives to buy the CE, for the exclusive vendor with future updates.

Maybe F2P players should get everything subs pay for for free next as well? Otherwise it is a waste of time spent making content for a tiny group of people, only a fraction of which will even use it.

Like I said, the longer the game goes on, the fewer active players have access to it. If they make content, they have the option to put it in the CE vendor or to put it elsewhere. Putting it elsewhere makes it accessible for -more people-. I never said they should give anything to anybody for free, by the way, just that they should give us an alternative to paying 80 dollars or more for a game we already bought.

Their 80 bucks bought them the game back when it was for sale, it bought them sub time, and a statue, and a bunch of goodies that they already have. Exclusive armors, decorations, speeders, and dye packs. Not to mention the stuff they just straight up got for free without even having to spend credits. If the devs make a thing, I think they should put the thing somewhere that most of the player base can buy it.

Either through cartel packs, or the security or rep or event vendors. That way, the people with the CE still get to get it, and hey, so do the rest of us! Also keep in mind, the people that promised updated CE vendors do not even work there anymore and never kept their promises about a lot of things, this isnt the game the devs thought they were making back in 1. Yes, I do want the people that paid money on the promise of future updates to continue to receive those promised future updates.

The same way I have no problem with people having Jawa Party. I do own the CE version of the game, I just had real life issues that stopped me from playing the game briefly and in that time period I missed out on the party jawa. So you are telling me something people paid extra for should be handed out for free to others who did not pay the extra? The ones that could not afford it at the time that it came out they are out of luck.

I for one would want the items from CE but having it accessible to everyone beats the purpose of CE. And time wasting? Dont think that, that really qualify as time consuming. Hitting the points in order: Yeah, I agree that the idea of a CE is to act as a limited edition. So given that, making the content and giving it to the tiniest possible audience seems wasteful to me. Old players leave, new players come in to replace them. So as that happens, inevitably, the number of people who have access to the CE vendor is only going to dwindle.

This is a good way around it, unlike before you wanted access someway to CE through someway like CC. And even though I want the items from CE. Just like the imperial armor from CE I want it but they said they would never make a copy similar to CE items. It would beat the purpose but still they did.

The grey imperial gaurd armor with yellow lights on it. Eh, thing is, the vendor was -one- out of a large list of things that were listed on the CE.

If they sold access to the vendor through the cartel market, or with in-game credits, or as a seperate package, the CE would still have a malgus statue, a galaxy map, a soundtrack, a book, special packaging, a month of sub time, and six other digital items. Hell, honestly, they only spent 30 dollars more on all that stuff than the game would have cost them at the time. In fact, the opposite is the exception to the rule. I know CE have physical items, i own several CE boxes.

Recent mmo that did that, Elderscrolls online. Secondly this is just a power money grabber thing. CE is Unique, going out there and start selling those same items on a market is just plain cheap.

Like i stated before, if less then half the CE owners dont play then making items for CE vendors, they probably wont see day light.

Like p4v7:disqus said, if you were too late to do so, then you were too late to do so. What the income will be. Just stick to physical items and sell those special in game thing straight from an ingame market or website shop. Cause the whole CE purpose has been stripped off. Lastly, all those Physical stuff, art book, soundtrack etc you can easily get of the internet and regarding the statue, there are far more better looking or similar ones.

And even if it werent so, most people arent interested in the physical stuff, not the ones like you are me anyway. Historically or not, if a CE has exclusive stuff, physical only or in game item. If its a vendor that will continue to reward those who bought, playing or not, they should be rewarded. I have been here in the long run and actually read forums so yes i saw the dev stated that they would update the CE vendor on a regular basis.

As i said, they did not do so, regardless there reason. But now they started doing so and all the sudden you think it is a problem? It has been written by a dev on forums, it has been asked in an interview and it has been answered..

And dont ask me to go find you a link cause i wont be doing you any favor simply because u did not pay attention when these things were stated. Regardless if you mentioned it as free or a price. People dont seem to agree. And if they did, they are just stuck up like you, feeling they should be entitled to everything. As i stated before, if a game would think said bonus in game rewards would be cool for players and want to add it to a CE and then later on to the shop is just plain money grabbers.

You either keep it exclusive or you never should have made it a CE bonus period!. Not everyone buys CE for physical stuff only. I have bought CE in the past because of in-game rewards and i am not the only one. I have not bought certain CE simply because i did not have the money, or i thought the price was too ridiculous.

Or the physical stuff was not even worth having, even thought that one in game so-awesome-looking-item-is-epic, i would not buy it. If for some reason i wanted that item reward for all the sudden i wont go around demanding it to be free or for a cheap price. I should have bought it then. This might not be your taste but soon they might start rewarding more cool looking items for the Catina attendance and it wont be long before you start demanding those item to be available through some other form in game, simply cause you could not have it, or attend the Cantina tour for said reason, regardless of how legitimate they may have been.

You want Access to the CE vendor, go an buy the box which might be euros now.. You dont want the physical items,…. You wanted cantina items? So suck it up, go buy the CE on ebay or amazon. If the price is too much stop your QQ and move on. Cause im pretty sure, if you did had the CE access and it would be made available to all for some small price you wont be QQ about it because you arent that special snowflake anymore..

And stop trying to rob them of there exclusiveness simply cause you are selfish and think they should not have it cause you cant. Holy shit, dude. I know we disagree, but did I kick a puppy somewhere without noticing it?
